Who can join?
The Swiss Interest Group Histamine-Intolerance (SIGHI) is not an association in legal terms. It is a community of purpose (partnership of convenience) with no particular legal form. Everybody can become a member: persons concerned, affiliated, healthcare professionals, companies, institutions and organisations. A valid email address is required. Memberships can be refused or terminated without stating a reason.

Cost
Membership fee is 24 CHF per calendar year, plus a unique setup fee of 12 CHF. (After end of June, new members have to pay only the half membership fee in their first year of membership: 12+12 CHF = 24 CHF.) Use a currency converter to find out how much this is in your currency.

After registration, you will get a bill by email.
There is no automatic renewal: At the end of the year, a payment request will be sent to our members. The membership will be prolonged only if the fee is paid. Otherwise, membership ends automatically. If you don't want a renewal, you don't have to do anything.
There are no special obligations for our members. Active members can ask for a free membership.

Accepted payment methods
Upon receipt of the application form, we will send you an invoice in the next few days by e-mail. To speed up the registration process, you can already transfer the amount before receipt of the invoice (bank details see below, price table above).
New members please fill in the application form in any case. The payment alone is not sufficient for the initial registration. Thank you.
We accept the following payment methods:

A) ACH-transfer (mostly free), bank transfer, direct deposit
In order for you to transfer money as easily and inexpensively as possible, we offer you several accounts in different countries (USA, UK, Australia, Germany (European Union), Switzerland) or in different payment systems (ACH, Wire, SEPA, SWIFT, FPS, BACS, CHAPS), with different account currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CHF). See below for bank details.
For U.S. residents: ACH transfers to our account in the USA are mostly free or much cheaper than Wire transfers.
It can sometimes take several days until the amount is credited to our bank account and we recorded it. In urgent cases, you better choose one of the faster payment methods below.
B) Cash deposit at a post office counter in Switzerland
This is available in Switzerland only.
Fill in an empty red deposit slip (payment slip) with the payment details of our PostFinance account. Empty red deposit slips are available at the waiting area of all Swiss post offices. Hand it then to the person behind the post office counter, together with the cash (amount of the invoice plus the post fee of about 1.50 CHF which is charged to us).
Please make sure that from our two accounts you indicate the one with the currency CHF (Swiss Francs).
It can sometimes take several days until the amount is credited to our bank account and we recorded it. In urgent cases, you better choose one of the faster payment methods below.
C) PayPal / debit/credit card (Visa, Mastercard, ...)
Another popular, quick and easy method is the payment via PayPal or debit card or credit card. We are notified promptly of your incoming payment and may create your login typically within a few hours (except during prolonged absences).
Instructions:
1) Select the appropriate option / amount.
In the menu bar right above the yellow “Buy Now” button please select the appropriate option (annual fee / semi-annual fee / extension), before clicking the button.
2) Click the “Buy Now” button
3) Follow the instructions
PayPal will now guide you through the payment process.
Unfortunately, PayPal does not provide a form field to send us the SIGHI invoice number. So please don't forget to give us a chance to find out whom the payment was made for. Please make sure that either name and address of the PayPal delivery address match the details given in the SIGHI application, or tell us by e-mail (simultaneously with your payment) that the payment of Mr. XY from Z was made for Mrs. AB from C.
As a new member, please fill in our application form in any case. The payment alone is not sufficient for the initial registration. Thank you.
D) WesternUnion® - online with debit/credit card or bank account
1) Visit the WesternUnion Website and select your country and language. The first time you use the service please register for an user account.
2) Follow the instructions “send money online” at the WesternUnion Website. Please send the money to our CHF bank account (preferred) or for cash pickup at agent location (only if urgent).
The fees are at your expense and are around 5 USD, depending on your country. Use the calculator on that page to determine the necessary amount including the fees (preview of fees and exchange rate).
If you send money for cash pickup, please let us know the transfer number by e-mail as we are not notified by WesternUnion.
E) WesternUnion® - cash at agent location
1) Visit the WesternUnion Website and select your country and language to inform you about available services and agent locations near your residence. In many countries worldwide, Western Union has a dense network of partners (banks, car rentals, ticket offices, etc.).
2) Go to your preferred agent location and give them the money in cash and the necessary information about our address and / or bank account. Please let them send the money to our CHF bank account (preferred) or for cash pickup at an agent location (only if urgent).
The fees are at your expense and are around 5 USD, depending on your country. Use the calculator on that page to determine the amount including the fees (preview of fees and exchange rate).
If you send money for cash pickup, please let us know the transfer number by e-mail as we are not notified by WesternUnion.
F) Send cash by postal mail
If the above-mentioned payment methods are too complicated or are not available for you, there is still the possibility to put the amount well camouflaged in an envelope and send it by letter post to our postal address. We do not recommend this method due to risk of theft but you can do this on your own risk. Any amounts that will reach us in this way will gladly be accepted and processed as quickly as possible. Accepted currencies: CHF, EUR, USD.
If, despite this choice, no workable solution can be found in your case (in the state of great exhaustion and listlessness, sometimes everything seems to be too complicated), then please ask a friend or relative if he could do the transfer for you, or ask the customer service of your preferred payment service provider.
Extension or reactivation of an existing membership
When?
Membership always ends on 31 December. Your login will be deactivated approximately mid of January. To prevent this, active renewal is needed.
Regular renewal: In November/December, you will get a reminder with an invoice by e-mail. For seamless renewal, please transfer the annual fee to one of our bank accounts by 10 January at the latest.
The subsequent reactivation of the membership is also possible at any time.
How much?
Irrespective of the time, the full annual membership fee of the current calendar year is due. The amount is shown in the price table above (in CHF / USD / EUR) and in the invoice received by e-mail. For other currencies, please use a currency converter to calculate the amount in your currency. You can send any currency to our CHF account by bank transfer. Our bank will automatically convert it to the currency of our account (CHF).
How-to?
A new registration is not necessary. Bank transfer is sufficient. Please ask us for an invoice if you do not yet have one. Please use any of the accepted payment methods listed above.
Detailed information on renewal, invoice and payment
In order to save bank charges for international transfers, we have opened new bank accounts in the EU, USA, UK and Australia.
Please state the invoice number as payment reference when transferring money. This invoice number already contains all the information we need and makes our accounting much easier.
If you use the PayPal button, please do not forget to select the option "Extension of existing membership" beforehand.
If you are not interested in renewing or reactivating your membership, you can ignore and delete the received invoice.
If you have not received our year-end mail (not even in the SPAM folder?), this may be due to the fact that you have not yet given us the data protection consent required for this. You can give us your consent at any time by sending us a short, informal e-mail. You can give or withdraw the following consents individually at any time:
A) Receive newsletter (free of advertising, max. 12 per year)
B) Receive year-end mail (also former members)
C) Allow individual contact
If the one-time setup fee is charged again in the year-end mail invoice, you only need to take it into account if it has not already been paid with an earlier invoice.
After receiving the year-end mail, you can consider unpaid invoices from the previous year as irrelevant and use the current invoice in the year-end mail instead.
Confirmation: If your login still works after January 15th, this means that we have correctly booked your payment and extension was successful. If not, please let us know that something must have gone wrong.
Termination of membership: unnecessary
No automatic renewal: Membership always ends automatically at the end of the calendar year (December 31). To be as customer friendly as possible, there are no automatic contract renewals. Termination is therefore not necessary. At the end of each year we will send a reminder to your email address. Only with the payment of the invoice your subscription will be renewed for another year. If you are not interested in an extension, you can simply delete the invoice. No action of your part is needed.
