Objective
Goals of SIGHI
The Swiss Interest Group Histamine Intolerance (SIGHI) has set itself the following goals:
- Collect and edit information and experiences on the subject of histaminosis (histamine intolerance, mast cell activity syndrome MCAS, mastocytosis, ...) and place it at the disposal of interested parties
- Conduct public relations to increase the level of awareness for these histamine-related diseases
- Exchange of experiences of people affected as well as between people inflicted and professionals, establish contacts
- Represent the interest of people affected within Switzerland
To make progress as fast as possible, the knowledge base of the professionals should be complemented by the experience of the people affected and exchanges between these groups. We try to join all jigsaw pieces of the only scantily available knowledge about this disease to create an overall picture on these pages. We do not only limit ourselves to scientific publications, but also include unproved presumptions as well as observations and experiences from people affected as long as they seem plausible to us. We do this deliberately, and also at the risk of having to correct one or two things later on. We do this for the following reason: The people concerned are affected by a histamine intolerance now and need to know already now about all the available theories that may be able to explain their suffering or reduce their symptoms. They do not want to wait a decade until the knowledge available today may potentially be mentioned in the textbooks, lecture halls and medical practises. The references should help the readers to better assess the quality of our statements.
Target groups of our website
This information platform is not only by and for people affected. It should also be at the disposal of doctors, dietary advisors, diet chefs, pharmacists and other professionals. Everybody interested in the subject should be able to find ample information on the issue or put his or her knowledge at the disposal of other interested parties. And, last but not least, we hope that with this website we are also able to reach those who are trying to find an explanation for their condition and are not yet aware that they may be suffering from HIT.
